Rob Gronkowski “Just Joking” About Having Bucs’ Playbook

Earlier on Wednesday, a story spread about Gronk saying he began studying the Bucs’ playbook a month ago even though he wasn’t on the team. Gronk said the line while appearing on Bud Light Seltzer’s “Drafterparty” on Saturday. Gronk made his remark in the context of Joe Burrow studying the Bengals’ playbook for weeks prior to officially signing with them.
“I was in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers playbook four weeks ago, and I wasn’t even on the team,” Gronk said.
Was Gronk just joking in response to the Burrow story or was he telling the truth? He went on social media to clarify that he was just joking.
Gronk was officially traded by the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Bucs last week. It’s not unreasonable to think that he may have gotten a peak at the Bucs’ playbook through his buddy Tom Brady, who convinced the tight end to join him on the NFC South squad.
